His jaw would continuously tense, and then relax a few minutes later, and then repeat again. After a while I couldn't watch him anymore, so I instead turned to observe the room. The silky curves and reflections of the comforter. The way shadows fell on the already dark walls, how a single candle can create such a haunting feeling inside your gut. The way the long, opaque curtains swayed in the breeze, and the way the moonlight shone off that short, dusty hair. The way it made his skin glow.
